Privacy Policy — Layabout

Last updated: 19 September 2026

Layabout is a bed-workout app published by greybits: short guided sessions you do lying down. This policy explains what the app stores, what it shares, and who to contact about it. It is written to be accurate rather than reassuring: where data does leave your device, it says so.

The short version

What stays on your device

Everything the app keeps is stored locally, in the app's own storage:

None of this is sent to us. There is no server holding your history, and uninstalling the app deletes it from your device; we have no way to recover it afterwards.

If Android's backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include this data in your device backup and put it back when you reinstall Layabout or set up a new phone. That backup is kept in your Google account, not by us, and you manage it in your device's backup settings.

Health and fitness information

Layabout records only what the sessions you finish were, as listed above. It does not connect to Health Connect, Google Fit, Apple Health or any wearable, reads no health data from your device, and asks you nothing about your body or your health. Your session history is never sent to us or to the ad provider, and it is never used to choose ads.

Layabout offers general fitness guidance. It is not a medical device and not medical advice.

Voice cues

Voice cues are spoken by your device's own text-to-speech engine. The app gives it only the exercise instructions to read out, nothing about you. The engine is part of your phone's system, and its maker's privacy policy applies to it.

Advertising

Layabout shows ads supplied by Google AdMob: small banners at the end of screens, plus one at the top of a session that you can close; a full-screen ad after every second session you finish; and a full-screen ad on every third time you open the app in a day.

To serve those ads, Google's advertising SDK collects and processes:

Google uses this data for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention, and acts as an independent controller of it. What it does with the data is governed by Google's own policies:

Layabout starts Google's advertising SDK only once the consent step described below is done, never before it. Until then, nothing is sent to Google for ads apart from that consent check.

Layabout has no in-app purchases, and no paid way to remove the ads.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland

Before Layabout requests any ad, it checks with Google's consent service. Where your answer is needed, it shows you Google's consent form, which asks whether ads may use your data, and waits for your answer. Your answer is stored on your device by Google's consent tool and sent with ad requests, so that Google can honour it. You can change your answer at any time from Settings, then Ad privacy choices, which reopens the same form.

On iPhone and iPad

Layabout asks only for non-personalised ads on iPhone and iPad, and it never shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt, so your device's advertising identifier is not used to track you across other companies' apps and websites.

Analytics

Layabout contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDK of its own. We do not track sessions, screens or events, and we receive no reports about how you use the app. The only data that leaves your device is described under Advertising.

Links out of the app

Rate Layabout, in Settings, opens our page on Google Play. Share Layabout opens your phone's own share sheet with a link to the same page, or copies that link. Layabout sends nothing to those pages; they are Google's, and Google's privacy policy applies to them.

Permissions

On Android these appear as declared permissions: internet access and network state, for ads; the advertising ID and Android's ad-related Privacy Sandbox permissions, for ads; keeping the device awake briefly, for the ad SDK's background tasks; and vibration, for haptic feedback you can turn off in Settings. Keeping the screen on during a session needs no permission. Layabout asks for no location, camera, microphone, contacts, notifications or storage access. On iPhone and iPad the app asks for no permissions.

Children

Layabout is meant for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact greysonmiller67@gmail.com and we will act on it.

Data we hold about you

None. We operate no servers and have no database. Because the app has no account, there is nothing for us to look up, export or delete; deleting the app removes your data from your device, and Android's own backup, if you use it, is managed in your Google account.

Requests concerning data held by Google for advertising must be made to Google, using the links above and your device's ad settings, because we have no access to it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal data about you, and to object to it being used for advertising. Since we hold no personal data ourselves, those rights are exercised as follows:

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the updated policy appears both here and inside the app, under Settings, then Privacy policy.
