Privacy Policy for Talking Cactus

This Privacy Policy describes how the “Talking Cactus” mobile application (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use it. By downloading or using the App you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide (audio)

The App records short voice clips through your device microphone so the on-screen cactus can play them back to you. These recordings:

• Are saved only on your device, in the App’s private storage.
• Are overwritten each time you make a new recording.
• Are never uploaded, transmitted, shared, or sent to any server controlled by us or any third party.
• Are deleted when you uninstall the App.

We do not have access to your voice recordings.

1.2 Information collected automatically (advertising & analytics)

The App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, AdMob and Google may automatically collect:

• A device advertising identifier (e.g., Android Advertising ID).
• Approximate location derived from your IP address.
• Device information (model, OS version, language, country).
• App interaction data related to ads (impressions, clicks).

We do not directly collect or store any of this information ourselves. It is collected by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and the “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services” page (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).

1. Permissions We Request

• RECORD_AUDIO — to capture the voice clip you want the cactus to play back. Recording only happens when you tap the cactus in Talking mode.
• INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — required by Google AdMob to load and display advertisements.

You can revoke the microphone permission at any time in your device Settings. The Talking feature will stop working, but the rest of the App will continue to function.

1. Children’s Privacy

The App is designed for general audiences, including children. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone, and voice recordings stay on the device. Advertising in the App is configured to be appropriate for a mixed audience.

1. Advertising Choices and Consent (GDPR / UK GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the App uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present a consent form on first launch. Through that form you can choose whether personalized ads may be shown to you. You can change your choice at any time by reinstalling the App or by adjusting your device’s ad personalization settings.

You can also reset or opt out of personalized advertising at the device level:

• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → “Delete advertising ID” or “Opt out of Ads Personalization”.

1. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent any information. The only third party that receives information from your use of the App is Google (AdMob), and only for the purposes described in Section 1.2.

1. Data Retention

• Voice recordings: stored on your device only and overwritten with each new recording; removed entirely when you uninstall the App.
• Advertising data: retained by Google according to its own retention policies.

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information about you. Because we do not collect or store personal information ourselves, most requests should be directed to Google. We will assist where we are able.
